![]() ![]() No drift at all with my radio! If its really cold I must give it a few minutes to warm up. Thanks again for all the info on this nice looking radio!.now i have one last question.I talk on sideband 95 percent of the time and im wondering if the 4800 drifts at all on sideband? When you get close to it the knob kinda wants to lock into place makin it a little tricky to tune center freq. No care for the echo really but the only REAL complaint about the 4800 I have is the center notch that the course clarifer has. I know this is how the model with echo works and would assume the old style is the same. The COARSE is unlocked, the FINE is locked.as they should beīoth clarifiers will change the display on the freq. Thanks hotwire.now when you move the course or fine does one of these move the frequency on the frequency counter?I know you say the clarifiers are fully functional but that really doesnttell me if they are unlocked or not.does anyone know?thanks any info will help.thanks again hotwire i really like this radio. Unkey and then use fine to tune in a contact. What I do is use the course to set the freq I want. Now the course adjust your transmit and recieve. On the Connex 4800DXL both the course and fine tune clarifier are fully functional.įine tune is just that.to fine tune your recieve. I have a few question about the CONNEX 4800 DXL.Are both clarifiers unlocked on it?Do the clarifiers move the frequency like a cobra 2000 does?thanks! Be sure to get your CEF # if you have'nt yet and attend the Sunday nets! 73 Thanks for your help! You're right, this forum is a great resource! I hope that I can return the favour sometime. I was interested to hear that your 4800 is pretty much stock. Hotwire, I see the UPS truck pulling up my driveway soon. I am thinking about slappin on some of those nice shiny chrome covers. The tranmit dead key is adjusted to 2 watts. Just the reciever is stock I suppose unless the store aligned it without telling me. This new mic should be ready in Febuary and you can check it out in the subsciber preview!īert I fibbed. Many of us here at Copper have been help by these guys with our problems and they are glad to help. These guys have been in the biz for a long time and know their stuff up and down. Some techs on this very forum have used it and helped with the design of it. I see I caught your interest about the new COMPRESSION DESK MICROPHONE from Copper! Bert I have a feeling this mic is gonna rock. I'm sure that a QAULIFIED tech could wring a few more watts from it and maybe even toss in some bells and whistles and better diodes and such but I like mine the way it is. #Connex 4800 dxl manual mods#The 4800 needs no tweaks or peaks and I strongly suggest not to let just anyone do any mods to it. Hey Bert! My Connex 4800 is totally stock. Questions, questions, I hope you don't mind, as I do appreciate the help.ĬLICK on the LINK below when you are ready to order one. Do you mind telling me what the new mic is? Sounds like you have a winning combination there. I've heard great things and I really like the clean lines of the radio and the 6 digit frequency counter.įrequency coverage is from 24mhz to about 29mhz? ![]() In the meantime I proceeded to buy a bunch of other radios. I've wanted one for so long and when I went to buy one about a year ago, no one had them in stock. I've had my 4800 for about a year and a half and have had no problems. Very much worth every penny and I recommend this radio to you. I get the respect on the air this radio is due not to mention the hell from those who are jealous. Best and most sensitive recieve radio I ever owned. Excellent ACR and better than any radio I ever have owned. From cold to warm it will drift about 2 kc's depending on how cold or warm it gets but at constant room temp its dead on. After around 15 minutes its very stable on freq. I use the Astatic 636 with it while waiting for the new desk mic from Copper to come out. Its very loud and VERY CLEAN and crisp I have never had mic gain past 3 0 clock. The noise blanker is very good and does not effect any recieve audio when on. It has 480 channels not counting what the 10 kc switch does. All I get is flowers as the 4800DXL is my pride and joy base setup. It will give you 427 hits on "Connex 4800". Just look to the LEFT of the Forum here and you will see: Nice features, Ranger quality.what do you think? I keep putting off buying one, but am always drawn back to it. Anyone have any experience with these radios? ![]()
